Capacity Building

Our capacity building projects involve developing networks of stakeholders to support wider participation in delivering the sustainable development agreements and Millennium Development Goals.

We provide material to assist stakeholders in their understanding of national, regional and international sustainable development processes, frequently convening meetings between and amongst stakeholders and governments in support of the international sustainable development process. We also:

  • Facilitate improved stakeholder dialogue at the WTO.
  • Promote the Education Decade for Sustainable Development.
  • Network with Regional Government for Sustainable Development.
  • Seek to ensure secure & equitable access to land in Africa.
  • Promote the potential development of the Environmental Court of Justice.
  • Aim to help develop an academic forum on Sustainable Development.


Examples of previous activities include:

  • Organized training for participation in the Summit the PrepComs in Africa, Europe, and West Asia as well at PrepComs 2, 3, and at WSSD itself.
  • We produced the book 'How to Lobby'
  • Developed position papers on the overall framework of WSSD Type 1 and 2 outcomes.
  • Published lobby guidelines on effective stakeholder engagement at intergovernmental meetings.
